Our fish :: he has a name now!

So my little man and I finally decided to name the fish, Nemo - like Finding Nemo. He loves the movie, and it's the only one with a fish I can think of that he likes. Plus my mom thought we should name it Nemo, too, for the same reasons. I asked Joey what he thought, and of course, he agreed to it. So now the fish is Nemo.

Eventually, when I get enough extra cash, I want to get Nemo a proper tank. Maybe the betta tank with 2 sides, and then get another. We'll see. But for now, I got a vase from the dollar store so he can have more space than the little glass bowl he was in.

I had to take the bamboo out because Joey kept stirring the water with it and scaring poor Nemo.

Kid Stuff (#1)

An empty box of diapers can be useful? My little man figured out how. He emptied the box, then asked me to put his baby brother in it. So I did, and then he climbs in the box, too. As you can tell, baby boy was loving it. So is the little man, but couldn't catch his smile fast enough.

I've been wanting to get some kind of pet for my little man, since my husband won't let us have a dog or cat (he doesn't like animals, even though I come from a family were we adore our pets more than most people, haha). So I figured, why not a fish? With a fish, I won't have to worry about it getting lost in the house or biting one of the boys. So Saturday night, we went and got him a betta fish, and he loves it! We still haven't figured out a name yet. Trying to come up with something easy, and from a cartoon or movie he loves. We'll see. But he's a pretty fish; black and blue, but two front fins are red. PetSmart has them on sale for $1.99. Not bad.

What was your first pet?
My parents got a dog - a chow - when I was 4 years old. So he was my first pet. Wonderful dog. He died back in 1999. My latest pet was a beagle, but she died earlier this year. In between them, I've had fish, hamsters, and chinchillas. And my family has a cats. I would like to have a dog again, but then again, I don't. I don't want to deal with the loss. It hurts me too much.
