Product Review :: Playskool ShowCam

Since everything around is still so new and exciting to them, kids tend to have a unique way of looking at the world. Playskool ShowCam gives them the ability to tap into their enormous imagination by capturing the images around them and easily adding their own creative stamp. Give your child the ability to share the lens through which they view their surroundings:
  • Simple controls, big buttons and kid-sized hand grips so your child can focus on the shot, not figuring out features
  • Put their own original spin on the photos of the world around them with 50+ ways to customize pics including silly stamps and sounds, instant short stories and fun animations
  • Instantly take advantage of their excitement to show off their one-of-a-kind creations with family and friends by projecting photos onto any surface with only the flip of a switch
  • Cameras available in both gray and pink options

When I first saw I was invited to review this, first thing I wanted to know - how much does it go for? Something all parents look at when wanting to purchase a new toy for your child. Right? Or is that just me? Haha! So I looked on different retail sites to see the price range; all around $50.

My second thought to seeing this - seems kinda big. For tiny hands, it's a bit hard to hold. The buttons are big and nice, which is good. The picture options for adding things has a lot to choose from - even some animated funny ones to put your face in. The projector works really nice, as long as the room is pitch black. I was a bit disappointed in the need to be in extremely lit rooms to get a decent picture. Picture quality isn't as bad as I had expected, but again, to get a decent quality picture, make sure there's lots of light.

Would I buy this? If it wasn't $50, I might. Yes, my son loves it, but seeing how it is... I wouldn't spend the money on it. But then again, this is just for kids and meant to be as good as a camera for adults.
Would I recommend it? I would mention it, since kids do seem to love it. But not necessarily recommend it.

I received this product from bzzangent.com, in return for giving a review.
